Kathleen Rehl

Kathleen Rehl, Ph.D., CFP®

Kathleen, an award-winning author and speaker, joined ACP in 1996 when she realized she needed help running her financial planning firm. Kathleen built her ideal practice by implementing the tools and knowledge she learned through ACP. She ran this firm successfully for 17 years before closing the business in late 2013 to devote more time to her writing and speaking engagements.

Kathleen is the leading authority on financial planning for widows. Inspired by her own experience after losing her husband, Kathleen wanted to help other widows be more self-confident, knowledgeable, and secure in their money matters. Her vision came to fruition in the form of her book, Moving Forward on Your Own … A Financial Guidebook for Widows. This book is an essential resource for financial planners and, most importantly, women who have lost a spouse.

The book covers many of the financial topics that widows need to address and is presented in a format that will not overwhelm the reader. It uses self-reflective exercises to help nurture and encourage self-confidence at a time when many feel confused and vulnerable. Many notable organizations are using this book as a resource—the national ELCA Foundation, hospice services, community support groups, funeral homes, congregations, and the U.S. Army.

Moving Forward on Your Own has received 10 national and international awards, and Kathleen’s work has been featured in dozens of publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Kiplinger’s, Advisor Perspectives, AARP Bulletin, U.S. News & World Report, Consumer Reports, Investment News, USA Today, Bottom Line Personal, Reuters, and CNBC.
